SmartPDT® presented at the 37th GEF congress as a digital tool that facilitates and ensures DL-PDT for actinic keratosis.

During the two days of photo-knowledge in GEF meeting, it has been demonstrated that new technologies allow the quality improvement of dermatological procedures saving time for both, patients and healthcare.

Daylight photodynamic therapy is a treatment option for patients with actinic keratosis. In the protocol, the patient comes to the clinic, the skin is prepared, the photosensitizer is applied and the patient is instructed to spend 2 hours outdoors in the sun. However, some dermatologists don´t adopt easily the therapy because the uncertainties about the correct time of day, location, climate, and latitude at which the procedure should be performed, factors that may influence the efficacy of the treatment.

A solution for having control of these variables is SmartPDT®, a ground-breaking tool in DL-PDT AK therapy.  Dr. Tamara Gracia, from the University Hospital Miguel Servet in Zaragoza, entered the value, the positive points, the advantages, and the features of SmartPDT.
